A Kid at Heart
On Friday, I had the opportunity to accompany my Favorite Boy on a field trip. We loaded the buses and headed into the city for a production of Go, Dog. Go! at the Nashville Children's Theatre. As I sat on the bus, surrounded by eager kindergartners, I couldn't help but smile. This is what I heard all around me.

"Look! A bridge! WOW! Look! A big truck! Do you see that? That building is HUGE! Look at that building with a blue roof! COOL!"

It was so fun to see the world through their eyes. The bridges they were so excited about were really interstate overpasses, but as far as they were concerned, the structures were as awe inspiring as the Golden Gate. I am certain it has been quite a while since I saw a concrete overpass and thought, "Wow!" But with the children, everything was the COOLEST. THING. EVER!

The show was fun, and both the kids and adults enjoyed every minute. The standing ovation, however, came as we drove away from the theater. As we left the downtown area, we drove past LP field (home of the Titans). The kids were all standing and yelling, their excitement at seeing the large stadium couldn't be contained. Over all the screams of "WOW!" and "COOL!", they could barely hear the adults saying "Please sit down on your bottom while the bus is moving."

And, although I didn't share their wonder when it came to the overpasses or stand and cheer when I saw the stadium, I still enjoyed attending the play, even though it was directed primarily toward the children. I guess I still have a little bit of kid in me!
