In the Audience and on the Stage
Last Thursday, my Best Girl and I enjoyed a special evening together. I took her to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville to see her first Broadway musical! I love musical theater, and I have been looking forward to the day when my Best Girl and I could enjoy a show together. I made sure to get good seats so she would be immersed in the experience--I wanted her to thoroughly enjoy it. Despite the fact that the show lasted two hours past bedtime, my Best Girl was enthralled with the show, and the evening was a great success. I look forward to a girls' trip to New York in the coming years!
The next morning, my Best Girl put on her own show. The first grade program was bright and early on Friday (especially tough since she had been up until 11 the night before). This was my Best Girl's first experience speaking into a microphone, and she did a great job. The play was called "When I Grow Up", and my Best Girl made a great baker!
After the show, we went to her classroom for a few minutes. Grandma and Papa Don were able to join us as well. It was a great morning. I have a feeling I'll be hearing all the songs from "When I Grow Up" for quite some time!

Our Weekend
We had a crazy, but good weekend! On Friday, the kids were dismissed from school at noon in preparation for the storms that were predicted to come through our area. It was strangely beautiful all afternoon, and the kids got to spend the afternoon playing outside with their friends. Around 5:00, we headed next-door to our neighbors' house. They have a walk-in storage room under their house, and we planned to head there if necessary. Thankfully, we were spared the devastation that has affected so many. The storms were hit or miss in our area, and we saw only rain while others were hit much harder. Because all evening activities were cancelled, we enjoyed hanging out with our dear friends, and we were thankful to God to be spared more difficult circumstances.
On Saturday and Sunday, my Favorite Boy competed in a local basketball tournament. This huge event includes teams from all over the greater Nashville area. My Favorite Boy was part of a fourth grade select team from his school, and they won their division! After winning only one game with his regular season team (a different team), my Favorite Boy truly enjoyed the games, especially playing them with a great group of boys that he enjoys so much. Coach Dad was proud of all the boys for their hustle!
