My Favorite Boy turns six on Tuesday; we are celebrating already. On Saturday, Grandma and Papa Don drove up for a small family party. We visited, played, and ate chili and a chocolate-chip cookie cake. As you can see in this picture, our afternoon was filled with happiness and love.

Okay, in all honesty, I happened to catch one brief moment of happiness and love. Our actual afternoon also included some tears and sibling rivalry; but overall, we had a good time!

My Favorite Boy got a new bike from us. It is about 15 degrees right now, so it may be a few days before he can ride it outside.

Although Grammy, Papa, and my Favorite Boy's aunts, uncles, and cousins couldn't be here, the gifts they sent were greatly enjoyed! The birthday boy got a several new Xbox games and a racing wheel.

Both kids wanted to try the racing wheel. My Favorite Boy is cautious, and he is not a risk-taker. I am sure I will worry when he is old enough to drive a real car, but you can see he is the serious type.


My Best Girl is a little more free-spirited. She seemed to take instruction well; but when left to handle the wheel alone, she had a little too much fun.

She'll turn 16 in 2020. You're safe until then.


We are not partying today, but tomorrow we will be bowling with friends. Stay tuned!
