We made it through the birthday bonanza, but now my Best Girl is sick with croup. The good news is that she has a mild case, so we are not having to spend time in the bathroom with the shower running to help her breathe. The bad news is that my Favorite Boy is very susceptible to croup, so he may be sick again soon. I am praying that he will avoid it! Croup usually hits him pretty hard.

On a lighter note, I wanted to share this conversation between my Favorite Boy and me. One night this week, I was lying with him in his bed, and I said that I couldn't believe he was almost six. I told him he was growing up too fast.

He said, "Mom, I am not growing up too fast. You are just confused because it is winter. The days are much shorter now, so it just seems like I am growing faster."

If only that were true! We could move to Alaska during the summer and the south pole during our winter. Then it would be daytime for most of the day, and it would seem like he wasn't growing up at all! I guess, however, that I just have to accept that my baby boy is no longer a baby at all!
