Music City Kids' Marathon
Since kindergarten, my Favorite Boy has participated in the Music City Kids' Marathon. Because of his baseball schedule, we thought he wasn't going to be able to participate this year, but the makers of the tournament schedule smiled on us, and he didn't have to play on Friday night. To add to the excitement, my Best Girl was old enough to participate this year as well.
The kids race with same-age peers. Here are the third graders from my Favorite Boy's school at the starting line. (My FB is the fourth from the left.)
He was all smiles at the finish line with a new medal to add to his collection. The loot this year also included ice cream. This was a big hit with all the kids, especially since it was very warm.
For the past three years, my husband has run with my Favorite Boy. FB ran alone this year, but my Best Girl needed a partner. She chose me! Two years ago, I wouldn't have been up for the challenge, but I am now. We were all smiles at the start, and she couldn't resist giving me bunny ears.
My Best Girl took off in a flash, but wore down quickly. We would run quickly and then walk slowly, but she saved a burst for the finish.
She is so excited to have a medal like her brother, and I hope I can convince her to do more races. I need a running buddy!

This is so great -- for both of you!!
Very cool that both of the kids got to run this year! And that you were able to run with BG!
