First Full Day
My Best Girl had a very good first full day of kindergarten on Monday. We had a small separation issue at the beginning of the day, but the teacher intervened, and everything was fine. My Best Girl made new friends and enjoyed her day. For now, I am walking her to class each morning. She did tell me that her brother could walk her to class as long as he would give her a hug and a kiss. Those of you who know my non-affectionate son know that there will be no hugging and kissing, so I am going to walk her in for a few more days.
I think the highlight of my Best Girl's first day was riding the bus home. It's funny that I didn't let my Favorite Boy ride the bus for two years, and I let my Best Girl ride home on the first day (I always take them in the morning). After 2 years of sitting in the pickup line for 30-40 minutes and seeing the bus beat me to my house, I gave in on that one. The bus comes straight to our neighborhood from the school, and my Favorite Boy and Best Girl get dropped off at our driveway. I met them by the mailbox yesterday, and I was greeted by a smiling kindergartner!
It's really quiet around here, and I keep thinking, "I should have a child with me!" Seeing moms out with their little ones makes it even more noticeable. I know I am going to be able to catch up on some things around the house that desperately need attention, but I will be glad to see their smiling faces each afternoon!

What a mixed bag of feelings that must be! I have to admit to being jealous, though. I'm on my last year of SAHMomdom, and next year when Pudge is old enough for preschool, Red will be in kindergarten and I'll be back at work. Somehow the house will get cleaned and laundry done, right?!?!
I think it's so cute that she'll let her brother walk her IF she gets a hug and a kiss. Sounds like she's all girl and he's all boy. =D ha! I like it.
I know exactly what you mean about it being quiet! We only had 3 days last week, and I was super-busy, and next week is an odd week too (in addition to Monday off, we have Rash Hashanah Thursday off). But in a couple of weeks, I think it will feel awfully quiet.
Such a big step, for both of you, but I'm sure you'll both do great! Just enjoy the time when they're both at school, then enjoy all the time you have with them when they get home, then you've got the best of both worlds :)
P.S. Have you started on your scrapbook pages? I've gotten busy and gotten off track again :(
It's hilarious that she'll allow her brother to walk her to class but only on her terms! Can't imagine there are too many older brothers who would go for the hug & kiss from their little sister. :-)
