It's Like I'm Moving
Ever since I lost my blog, I feel like I am moving. When you move from one home to another, a lot of stuff gets tossed. My blog will be the same way. As I try to salvage posts from the google cache and google reader, I am not reworking everything--I just don't have time to salvage three years worth of blogging. I am trying to recreate the posts that mean the most to me.
In the mean time, please excuse the excessive numbers of posts that show up if you are following me in a reader. As I redo old posts, they show up just like the new ones. I am also moving to a new URL: baseballsandbows.com will be my new domain (thanks for the suggestion, Dawn). Not only is this easier to remember, but since it is tied to my name, address, and credit card, I won't ever have trouble getting it back if it gets deleted (google keeps replying by email that I can't prove the former blog was mine).
Also, Jennifer let me know that my text and pictures appear gray in Firefox. I have no idea why this is happening, but if anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them!
Thanks!

Sledding Fun
We ended up with about six inches of snow, but there is a thick layer of ice on top. That mixture doesn't work well if you want to make a snowman (or drive), but it sure works well for a slippery ride on a sled! We have a sloped yard, so the kids and their friends have been enjoying themselves today. (By the way, that's not Dad on the sled; it's our super nice neighbor who was playing with the kids. Dad was trying, unsuccessfully, to get the ice off our driveway.)

A Real Snow Day
If I still had my old blog, I would link to the snow days we have had in the last three years so you could see what usually constitutes a snow day around here. Most often, we miss school for about three flakes (or the threat of three flakes). Today, however, we are out of school for the real deal. We have snow! So far, we have about three inches. By tomorrow, we could have as much as ten. We haven't seen this much snow in about seven years!
My Favorite Boy was supposed to have his birthday sleepover tonight, but we had to postpone it. He was disappointed, but I told him it's a win-win situation. He gets to have his party next weekend, and he gets to play in the snow this weekend. He decided that is a pretty good scenario!

Starting Over
Well, three years worth of blogging is gone. I tried to disassociate an email from my blog and ended up without access to my blog at all. The thought of losing all the little things I have documented about my kids is staggering, but there is nothing to do but start over and try to get my content back (since I can't email or talk to a real person at google, I don't know if that will ever happen).
I'll hope that I can get my old blog back, but I'll have to keep moving forward for now! (Until I have time to correct everything, please excuse some of the outdated links and sidebar info.)
UPDATE: Thanks to Leah in Iowa, I realized that Google Reader has all my old posts except the first two months! I would love to be able to fully restore my blog, but at least I haven't lost everything. I can cut and paste some of the most important things. Thanks, Leah!

A New Challenge
I have enjoyed exercising for many years. Mostly, I attend classes at my local Y (aerobics and spin), and I also use the elliptical trainers. Because I was sick off and on all last year, my fitness routine really suffered. Now that I am returning to a more regular exercise schedule, I want to get back in shape!
I have never been a runner, but I would like to be. For some reason, I have always disliked running, and I have trouble sticking with it. I hope to change that this year. On Tuesday, I started a Couch to 5K program that lasts 9 weeks. For my first short-term goal, I want to participate in a local 5K in ten weeks.
This is not going to be easy for me. I really, really don't like to run. But, I hope that I will get to the point where running is as addictive for me as it is for so many others. I plan to have some smaller goals, like the local 5K, to keep me going, but I do have a BIG goal out there. My dream is to stick with this and run the Princess Half Marathon at Disney World in 2011. If anything can motivate me, it is the thought of running through the Castle and down Main Street (and a girls' weekend at Disney would be so fun!). Check out this video from the 2009 run. Doesn't that look great?
I have a friend working on this with me. I hope we can encourage each other all year long and make it to the half-marathon next March. It would be just in time to celebrate my 37th birthday. I would also like to note that my husband and son are very skeptical about this plan, and they have good reason. I have never stuck with running before. Of course, their doubt makes me want to prove that I can, and I know they will be proud of me if I do!
I look forward to documenting my journey here. Having an audience will help me when the going gets tough!
