It Was My Husband's Birthday, But I Got the Present
Saturday was my husband's 37th birthday. For the next six weeks, I get to be a "year" younger than he is. He got a new pair of (ugly) running shoes a few weeks ago, and he wanted that to count as his present. So, we celebrated by going out to eat. Instead of him getting a present, he and the kids presented me with a gift! They decided to give me something for completing my half-marathon. I haven't really completed it yet, but they wanted me to be able to take my gift with me when I travel to Florida.
Here's what I got:
When my husband suggested to the kids that they get me something for my efforts, my Favorite Boy thought they should give me a Nook (he was really proud of himself, and I was impressed with his idea as well!). Before giving it to me, my husband did talk to me about it (without the kids knowing) to see if I wanted the Kindle or the Nook. Initially, I thought the Kindle would be best. I am an amazon girl, and with the 3G version, you can use the (primitive) web browser. Since I don't have email on my phone, this was appealing to me. However, I ended up with the Nook because I am also a library girl. With the Nook, you can access the library's e-book system, and with the Kindle, you can't. It was a tough choice, but I had to go with the free books! The Nook does have a web browser as well, but it's only accessible with wi-fi.
I will always love the feel of a book in my hands, but I am am really going to enjoy having this, especially when I travel. Thanks so much to my sweet husband and children. I love this gift!

Way cool and very sweet of your crew!! Momma
Ahhh...how sweet!! :)
Very nice! Enjoy!
What a thoughtful gift! Congrats on your marathon!
Oooh--I missed out on this, but how fun!! I think you will like it. Be sure to browse those "free books" often. I really like to stockpile them.
Also, no one's really "reviewed" the Nook on 5M4B, so if you'd like to write up your impressions for an On Reading column after your trip (no rush), that would be cool.
(((Do you like how I leave comments suggesting WORK for you?? I don't think that's the point of comments is it??)))
Did you get to use it and read any while you were gone or were you too tired from running and sightseeing!
I just got a kindle (free with my swagbucks points, yay!) I like the idea of accessing the libraray but alas, that's not an option for me here now. Maybe one day.
I've been grabbing free books at amazon for a while now. I occasionally see them offered for the nook at a site Stacy sent me, I put it in my google reader.
books on the knob I think it's called....let me know if you need the link.
