Summer Fun
Wow! I last blogged almost 2 months ago. I guess it's time to catch up. That should be easier now that my kiddos are back in school. We get so busy in the summer that I don't take time to update here. I can't capture all the fun from our summer: lazy days at the pool, trips to the movies, playdates with friends, etc..., but I will try to hit a few of the high points.
Andrew finished up baseball in late June. This is a picture from his last tournament. The momarazzi was not appreciated. :)
His baseball experience this year was an absolute joy. Playing travel baseball can be intense, and the mix of people on the teams and/or the coaching doesn't always work well. He had the BEST coaches and teammates this year, and we were so thankful for a season that was instructive and FUN. We are already looking forward to meeting back up with the same crew next year. To end the season, we had a great party, complete with a huge, homemade slip-n-slide. The boys (and siblings) greased themselves up with vegetable oil and dishwashing detergent and flew down a hill on a large sheet of plastic. This was homemade fun at its finest.
In mid-July, we enjoyed a visit with my dear friend Amberly and her family. Amberly's husband Jason came to preach in our summer series at church, so we took advantage of the visit! They spent the night, so we were able to do a lot of talking, and we even fit in a pedicure. I am so thankful for my godly friend!
Also in mid-July, Andrew and Emily attended an enrichment camp at school. Emily participated in a sewing class, and she made a cute skirt and purse. Since I can't sew at all, I was so excited for her to have this experience. She has worn this skirt many times in the last few months (ignore the water she spilled on her shirt)!
Our good friends/next-door neighbors have a new addition! Beaux is an adorable goldendoodle, and he and Oreo became fast friends. I took this photo during their first meeting. They had already worn each other out!
We were so glad to have a visit from Adam's cousin Frank and his family this summer. We only spent one afternoon with them, but we enjoyed it so much. Two of Frank's girls and Emily giggled and played--it was fun just to watch them! Although we hope that Frank and his family can move closer someday, we are thankful for the time with them, no matter how brief!
This is a quick run-down of some of our summer activities. Coming up...our wonderful summer vacation!
