Kid Picks - April
It's time for the Kid Picks Carnival at 5 Minutes for Books. This carnival encourages participants to share the books that their kids are reading.
My Favorite Boy has been re-reading books 1-3 in the Harry Potter series. I think he is enjoying them even more the second time. Yesterday, I asked him about lunch at school, and he said he didn't know what happened at lunch because he was reading the whole time (and he even sat by girls; he must have been engrossed in his book). He desperately wants to read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
, but I won't let him until I read it first. He's waiting (not-so-patiently) for me to do this.
My Best Girl is reading books from the Ready-to-Read series right now; but together, My Best Girl and I are enjoying Toy Dance Party
(thanks for the recommendation, Jennifer). My Best Girl was laughing out loud last night as we read before bed. I highly recommend the adventures of the buffalo named Lumphy, a plush toy named Sting-Ray, and a ball named Plastic. The first book about these characters is called Toys Go Out
, and I highly recommend it as well.
These are the books that the Baseballs and Bows kids are reading. To find out about other great Kid Picks, head over to 5 Minutes for Books!

I ordered Toys Go Out last month and I just got notice from Amazon TODAY that it shipped! So I'm looking forward to reading that one. (We just have to finish Tumtum and Nutmeg first!)
See? Still debating over Harry Potter. I read the first and don't recall minding it SO much. I'm on the fence. Care to push me over? I love it that your son read through his lunch period. That's awesome!
Oh, my son adores HP!
And, my kids and I are getting ready to read Toys Go Out together. Such fun!
Lauren,
I am pretty strick on what I let my kids read. At first I was totally against Harry Potter. THen I read them. They are not so bad as I thought. Good vs. evil, since the beginning of time. Of course in a perfect world there would be no evil and if there were we would call on the name of the Lord to help us over power this evil. The books don't get any worse. We have everyone that is out. My 11 year old son has read them all the way up to our 18 year old daughter. You can't stop at just one...
Glad you liked Toys Go Out and Dance Party. So delightful.
And coincidentally -- Kyle and I are reading a book you've recommended -- My Father's Dragon.
I really enjoy the HP books. I'll probably read them again before too long. :-) And I will have to check out Toy Dance Party and Toys Go Out; my little people would probably really like them. Thanks for the rec.
